We need public transportation that makes sense, that gets people where they want to go, and that provides efficient alternatives to the automobile. As a Board Member of the Valley Transportation Authority, I have been a strong advocate for public transportation, including bringing BART to all cities in Santa Clara County.

Additionally, we need more bike and pedestrian paths for our families. On the Santa Clara City Council, I have supported our San Tomas-Aquino Streamside Trail, a great bike pathway connecting our city to San Jose, Cupertino, and Sunnyvale. In Sacramento, I will be a champion for public transportation and smart growth building that will allow people to spend less time in their cars and more time with their families.

I am extremely proud that the City of Santa Clara has the lowest utility rates among the cities in California and the best rated roads in the entire 105 Bay Area cities. In Sacramento, I will bring that efficient and effective infrastructure leadership. As California continues to grow, we must have leaders who understand that our roads, bridges, levees, dams, and water systems must be the best in the country. I will make sure that our infrastructure is reliable and secure.
